BUITELAAR WELCOMES ANOTHER NEW STARTER TO THE TEAM

With the continual growth of the business, we’re thrilled to welcome a few new faces to the team, including our new Content Marketing Executive, Brittany.

Following study at Reaseheath Agricultural College and the University of Chester to further a degree in Business and Events, Brittany developed a stark passion and enthusiasm to work within the agricultural industry, leading to her role with us today.

We caught up with her to see how she found her induction at Buitelaar.

“During my induction I spent time visiting different areas of the business, including our Pet Food office in Harrogate, the Development Farm in Somerset, and various Collection Centres around the UK. As it was my first time in a Collection Centre, I was excited to see first-hand how the team weighed and graded the calves. It was truly refreshing to see how well the calves are looked after – it’s only five-star facilities for them!

It's very true that the best way to learn is to get stuck in - I certainly rolled my sleeves up and thoroughly enjoyed helping the team in the Collection Centre office with the passports. It was a long day, but I enjoyed every moment of it.

The following day saw me at the Harrogate office for a business update, which was a fantastic opportunity to meet more of the team and learn more about our recent achievements and the future of the business. Being a core part of the Group’s marketing team, I couldn’t resist whipping out my camera to take some photos and I even managed to grab a quick Q&A with some of the Pet Food team!

I was excited to spend some time down at our Development Farm in Somerset. I experienced a full farm tour with our Farm Manager, who explained the different housing options on farm, including the development journey of our High Health Units and the adaption of the pre-existing buildings on farm. I also learnt a lot about nutrition and detailed farming practices, including castration, TB testing, weighing and vaccinating.

During my time down in Somerset, I got stuck into a variety of farm duties, including feeding, health checking, weighing calves and helping with new trials currently being undertaken at the farm. It’s fascinating to witness the investment in the research that is being carried out and I can’t wait to be able to share more about this in the coming months!

I was also lucky enough to spend some time shadowing our Tech Team member Hannah and several Calf Buyers out and about on farm; it was clear from the start how knowledgeable and passionate they are. It was great to see some of the different farming systems and learn more about how our contracts can be tailored to suit each individual farming need – no farm is the same!

My induction has been an invaluable experience and insight into the business, particularly as I move into my new role as Content Marketing Executive.”

We know that our team and our 'can-do' culture sets us apart, so it’s no surprise that we place a strong focus on developing our people. All our new starters participate in an intensive business induction to ensure they gain valuable insight to all business divisions across the Group and are well prepared to begin their new role.

We’re proud of the strong and energetic team we’re building; seeing our team develop and thrive is what the Buitelaar journey is all about.
