Due to continued growth, we are looking to recruit a Farm/Unit Manager to head up day to day operations on our Grower farm Near Chester.

The role of Farm/Unit Manager
You will be a hardworking, conscientious person with an excellent eye for detail managing the day-to-day Operations of the Unit to ensure profitability and efficiency targets are met while achieving the highest standards of Animal Health.

You’ll work collaboratively with the wider Buitelaar team to ensure supply chain expectations are met at all times and the farm is looking its best for Open days and Visits.

Responsibilities

Ensuring cattle are reared to the highest production and welfare standards, exiting the Farm according to protocols.

Organising Veterinary Routines to ensure animals have had all procedures completed allowing them to move in a satisfactory timeframe.

Organising feeding, bedding and scheduled vaccinations/husbandry procedures for all calves

Handling paperwork and keeping administrative records

Recruiting, training/instructing and supervising farm workers

Overseeing Staff schedules

Making sure that all scheduled work is carried out in an organised and efficient manner.

Ensuring compliance with government regulations and health and safety standards

Keeping an up-to-date knowledge of pests and diseases

Making sure all data (movements, weights, medications given to calves, deaths) are recorded correctly in the farm software provided.

Maximising the Daily Live Weight Gain (DLWG) of all calves/cattle on Farm

Ensuring that the Farm is profitable and meets projected financial targets.

Organising preventative maintenance/repair of property, equipment and machinery

Maintaining building and grounds – keeping them clean, tidy and organised to the highest standards
