One such team member who has been on an exciting path throughout her Buitelaar career is Katie, Supply Chain Operations Coordinator. Speaking candidly about her journey with the company and progression from joining our Graduate Scheme to where she is today, Katie says:
"As a fresh graduate eager to dive into the world of supply chain management, the graduate scheme with Buitelaar immediately caught my eye. I was keen to experience and learn about every aspect of the supply chain, and this scheme offered precisely that, and much more. It provided me with valuable insights into various departments within the company, including Livestock, Pet Food, and Meat, where I was privileged to witness first-hand the innovation and continuous development that drives the company's upward growth.
Throughout the scheme, I received comprehensive instruction, guidance, and exposure to numerous business divisions within the organisation. This hands-on approach allowed me to work across various areas, gaining valuable insights into marketing, the pet food industry, supply chain management, and meat production. The rotating structure of the scheme not only boosted my confidence in handling challenging tasks but provided me with a thorough understanding of the agricultural industry.
The Buitelaar Graduate Scheme has opened a multitude of opportunities for me. The experiences and comprehensive training that I have gained throughout has equipped me with a robust skill set and an in-depth understanding of the agricultural industry. I’ve had the opportunity to build a strong network of professional connections and mentors who have been invaluable in my career journey.
Currently, I am working as Supply Chain Operations Coordinator in the Livestock sector of Buitelaar, where I continue to apply and expand my knowledge and skills. In this role, I am able to make substantial contributions to the company's growth while pursuing my passion for ensuring that the agricultural sector thrives and is properly valued for its significance. The foundation laid by my graduate scheme has undoubtedly set me on a successful career path, and I am excited about the future opportunities it will continue to provide me with.
One of the highlights of my time at Buitelaar is our annual open day at our Development Farm, which I am fortunate to experience every year. This event provides an eye-opening opportunity to showcase the continuous growth and development we invest in to support the farmers we collaborate with. It also allows our entire team to demonstrate their passion and knowledge of the business to our customers and suppliers. And, of course, the delicious steak BBQ makes it an undeniable hit!
