Buitelaar Group Goes the Extra Mile for BUMBLEance

This August, the Buitelaar team came together for Active August – a month-long challenge that saw colleagues across our sites swimming, walking, running, and cycling in aid of BUMBLEance, The Children’s National Ambulance Service.

Every Mile with Meaning

Throughout the month, our colleagues showed determination and team spirit, covering an incredible 2,581 miles. Broken down, the team walked and ran 2,456 miles, cycled 44 miles, and swam 6 miles– each mile logged with purpose!

This was more than just a number – it reflected our can-do attitude, our willingness to go further together, and our commitment to making every step count for children and families who need it.

Why BUMBLEance Matters

At the heart of this initiative was BUMBLEance, an extraordinary charity providing Ireland’s only dedicated ambulance service for children. Their specially adapted, child-friendly vehicles are more than transport – they are safe, supportive spaces where young patients can travel with dignity, surrounded by their families, on the way to and from hospitals, respite care, and vital treatments.

This charity is especially close to our hearts, with colleagues, friends and their families directly benefitting from the incredible work BUMBLEance does. By turning difficult journeys into more positive experiences, BUMBLEance helps children feel secure, supported, and cared for – bringing light to what can be some of the darkest times.

Family Values in Action

The success of Active August is a reflection of who we are at Buitelaar Group. Just as we support one another as colleagues, we extend that same family value outwards, backing charities like BUMBLEance who put family at the heart of everything they do.

We’re incredibly proud of the commitment shown by our people and grateful for the opportunity to support such a vital service.

With family at our core and a belief that no challenge is too great, we look forward to continuing to support BUMBLEance and other causes that reflect our values.

Following the initiative, Buitelaar have directly donated €2.50 for every mile completed—bringing our total donation to an amazing €6,455 in support of BUMBLEance.
