Buitelaar Group Acquires 50% of Woolley Brothers Meat Processing Business
Buitelaar Group has taken a major step forward in its UK growth, acquiring a 50% share in Woolley Brothers. The move adds significant processing capacity to the Group’s supply chain and strengthens its position as a leader in sustainable beef production.
Group CEO, Adam Buitelaar commented:
“This is a major milestone for our business. We’re proud to return to our roots in the abattoir business and very excited to partner with Steven and the Woolley family. Like us, Woolley Brothers is a family-run business built on shared values — making this a natural fit.”
Based in Sheffield, at the edge of the Peak District, Woolley Brothers remains one of the UK’s few independent abattoirs, with capacity to process up to 2,000 cattle per week. Its customers span retail, wholesale, and food service markets across the UK and Europe.
Founded in 1922, Buitelaar Group today operates the UK and Ireland’s largest integrated beef supply chains. Alongside this new partnership, the Group will continue processing cattle at Woodheads in Spalding and Clonee, County Meath in Ireland.
Joe Mannion, Managing Director of Buitelaar Group, added:
“This partnership signals exciting growth for our meat business. Expanding our processing capabilities is a clear investment in the future of the Group. We’re looking forward to working with suppliers, colleagues and customers as we take this next step together.
