Buitelaar Group achieves independent Regenified® verification.
Buitelaar Group has reached an important milestone in its regenerative agriculture journey, with the first two farms in its Project Regen network achieving independent Regenified® verification.
Upper Stanway Farm, operated by long-standing Buitelaar partner farmer Ed Riley, and Prumpelstown Estate, part of Buitelaar Group and managed by Ed Cooper, have successfully completed Regenified's independent, outcomes-based verification process.
The achievement marks a significant step forward in Buitelaar Group's ambition to build a practical, transparent and commercially scalable regenerative beef supply chain, embedding independently verified regenerative principles into real working farming systems.
Building Regenerative Agriculture That Works
Since its launch, Project Regen has been designed to help farmers make meaningful progress towards regenerative agriculture without creating unnecessary barriers to entry.
Rather than prescribing a single approach, the programme encourages farmers to take practical, measurable steps that improve both farm performance and environmental outcomes. Areas of focus include soil health, biodiversity, carbon efficiency, livestock integration, animal welfare, feed efficiency and overall system resilience.
As the initiative has evolved, independent verification has become the next stage of that journey, providing greater transparency and confidence in the progress being made.
Regenified's verification process assesses whole-farm performance across key indicators including:
- Soil health
- Biodiversity
- Water function
- Ecosystem resilience
- Livestock integration
Importantly, verification is based on measurable outcomes rather than prescribed farming practices, recognising that every farm operates within its own landscape, system and commercial environment.
A Practical Approach to Regenerative Supply Chains
Rather than attempting to verify an entire supply chain from the outset, Buitelaar Group deliberately began with a small number of farms already participating in Project Regen.
This phased approach enables the business to test, learn and refine regenerative verification within commercial beef production before expanding the model across a wider network of farms.
Adam Buitelaar, CEO of Buitelaar Group, said:
"This is an important milestone for Project Regen and for our wider supply chain ambitions. These are the first farms in our network to achieve independent regenerative verification through Regenified, and that matters because it shows this can work in real commercial farming systems.
"From the beginning, our view has been that regenerative agriculture must be practical, measurable and commercially viable. It has to work for farmers, for the supply chain and ultimately for customers. This is a strong step forward in proving that model."
Independent Verification Brings Credibility
Independent verification plays an increasingly important role in helping demonstrate measurable progress across regenerative farming systems.
Richard Tufton, Global Vice President of Regenified, said:
"What makes this collaboration important is that it is taking place inside a genuine commercial beef supply chain. These farms are producing food while improving ecosystem function, and that is where regenerative agriculture has the potential to deliver real impact.
"Regenified is focused on outcomes. It is not about prescribing a single route for every farm, but about verifying whether farming systems are moving in the right direction and delivering measurable improvements for soil, water, biodiversity and the wider ecosystem."
Groundswell 2026
The two farms formally received their Regenified verification at Groundswell 2026, where Buitelaar Group and its partners hosted an invite-only event exploring the future of regenerative beef production.
The gathering will bring together farmers, food businesses and industry stakeholders to discuss how regenerative farming can strengthen the connection between healthy soils, thriving ecosystems, food quality and consumer confidence.
Alongside environmental outcomes, Buitelaar Group is also investing in understanding the nutritional value and quality of beef produced within regenerative systems, helping to build a stronger evidence base around the benefits of responsible farming practices.
Adam Buitelaar added:
"There is growing interest in how food is produced, but also in the quality and nutritional value of that food. For beef, that conversation is becoming increasingly important.
"We see a major opportunity to connect responsible production, ecosystem improvement, provenance and nutritional quality in a way that creates value for farmers and confidence for customers. That is a key part of where Project Regen is heading."
Continuing the Journey
The achievement of Regenified verification by the first Project Regen farms represents another important step in Buitelaar Group's long-term commitment to regenerative agriculture.
By combining practical farming solutions, independent verification and commercial supply chain expertise, Project Regen continues to demonstrate how regenerative agriculture can deliver measurable environmental improvements while supporting resilient farming businesses and creating confidence throughout the food supply chain.
