The Opportunity
An exciting permanent opportunity has arisen at Ashgrove Farm, a Buitelaar-owned, professionalcalf-rearing unit based near Wrexham.
This is a modern, purpose-built rearing facility operating as part of a fully integrated supply chain,offering an excellent environment for a motivated and ambitious individual looking to build a long-term career in livestock production.
The unit has capacity for up to 2,000 calves at any one time and operates to high health, welfareand performance standards.

Key Responsibilities
- Record Keeping
- Completion and upkeep of farm records
- Supporting trial work processes and procedures in line with pre-agreed protocols, includingvaccinations and disbudding
Milk Feeding
- Carrying out daily milk feeding routines
- Managing feeding timings, milk feed plans and weaning procedures
- Calf Selection
- Assisting the Farm Manager with calf selection for licences and orders
- Progressing towards independently selecting calves when required
Health Management
- Working alongside supply chain vets to implement health plans
- Identifying sick calves and following agreed treatment protocols
- Ensuring health plans are adhered to and highlighting areas for improvement
Feeding & Nutrition
- Managing concentrate feeding routines
- Implementing ration transition protocols (e.g. cake to blend, higher to lower protein feeds)
- Shed Preparation & Hygiene
- Steam cleaning and disinfecting pens
- Cleaning and maintaining feeding and management equipment
- Preparing sheds for incoming batches of calves
General
- Maintaining high standards of farm hygiene
- Assisting with general farm maintenance as required
Working Pattern
- 7:00am start
- 5:00pm finish (some overtime may be required)
