Success For Award-Winning Calf Unit

Buitelaar sponsored the 2021 Cream Awards Youngstock Health & Welfare category, which was recently won by Hartpury University.

The university, based on the Gloucestershire campus, credits sound rearing protocols, good rearing facilities and dedicated staff, for meeting performance targets in youngstock, which won them the award.

Amongst other intricate management techniques, Gabby Emery our Livestock Business Development Manager, commended Hartpury on the exceptionally detailed Johnes management and prevention programme. The programme considers factors such as slurry storage and placement in relation to housing and the grazing of youngstock.

The university runs a commercial 400-hectare mixed farming enterprise, across five rural sites and supply the likes of M&S, Müller and Glencore.
